Does TSA Allow CBD on Airplanes?

Several CBD Wellness Store customers have asked if flying with CBD products is permitted? The good news is that travelers are free to fly with most CBD products, which are federally legal in the USA.

The Transportation Security Administration or TSA has language in its “What Can I Bring?” section of its website allowing for products containing hemp-derived CBD in both carry-on and checked luggage, An exception is CBD vape pens that can only be carried on and not placed in checked baggage. This is the policy that answers any concerns you may have about flying with CBD oil products.

According to the official TSA website, “Products/medications that contain hemp-derived CBD are legal as long as it is produced within the regulations defined by the law under the Agriculture Improvement Act 2018”, confirming that CBD oil can be brought on a plane next time you fly.

The TSA adjusted its policy to allow CBD products from hemp due to the passing of the 2018 Farm Bill (Agriculture Improvement Act 2018), which removed hemp from the Controlled Substances Act and legalized agricultural hemp products federally.

As long as travelers have CBD in forms that adhere to the regulations in the 2018 Farm Bill, the TSA will now permit it on an airplane. You can pack CBD oil products in either your carry-on bag or checked luggage. Just remember that there are still size restrictions on liquids or gels in your possession.

The TSA limits the size of personal items that can be taken in carry-on luggage to 3.4 oz or 100 ml bottles or smaller. When traveling, you simply need to place your CBD oil products in the same clear plastic zip-lock bag as your other toiletries.

When purchasing CBD products, be careful to only purchase those that are derived from hemp and not marijuana. While marijuana products are legal in some states, CBD products made with marijuana contain high levels of THC and that are prohibited under the TSA policy..

The hemp-derived CBD products sold at CBD Wellness Store conform with the TSA’s policy because they are 100% THC free. Be sure to purchase your CBD products from a trusted source, so you can be confident that they fall all federal laws and TSA policies.
