CBD Usage Trends During the Coronavirus Pandemic
In a year of uncertainty with a life-threatening pandemic and a turbulent presidential election, it is no surprise that stress levels have peaked for most Americans.
To deal with elevated levels of stress and anxiety, a Chicago based research firm found that 20% of US consumers are utilizing CBD products as a direct result of Covis-19. The results of the study were published in Hemp Industry Daily and demonstrate how both new and current CBD consumers are integrating CBD into their mental health and wellness regiments.
Across the study group of nearly 3,000 multi state consumers the research group found that 1 in 5 consumers indicated they are purchasing more CBD products during the pandemic and spend an average of $900 per year on CBD products. They also revealed they plan to continue CBD usage post pandemic.
Why CBD Usage is Increasing
As covid-19 infection rates accelerate, one of the top reasons for CBD utilization is to address increasing stress and anxiety.
Further research indicates that 53% of adults said that the coronavirus pandemic has negatively impacted their mental health and overall wellness. From January to June 2020 more than one third of adults reported symptoms of anxiety as compared to one in ten during the same period in 2019.
Researchers confirmed the following statement from the study group:
68% agreed with…. “I am feeling more stress during the pandemic than I did before.”
